Why it is goodToasters, lamps, and vacuum cleaners went home working instead of into the bulky-waste pile.

In this demo story, volunteer technicians sit at folding tables one Saturday a month. Visitors take a number. Parts come from a labeled bin.

1. Each fix is written on a slip: what failed, what was replaced, whether it powered on.
2. Unfixable items still get a diagnosis, so the next purchase is informed.
3. The 500 is a count from the slips, which is the whole point of the story.
